Answers to common questions about SOPREMA Korea products.
TECSOUND is a high-density synthetic acoustic membrane at 2,010 kg/m³ — 2–3× denser than ordinary materials (400–800 kg/m³). Per the mass law, higher density means better insulation even at a thin profile (1.75–5 mm). Sound reduction (Rw) is defined by the assembled system, not the membrane alone — e.g. a double-plasterboard partition with TECSOUND SY reaches about Rw 55 dB. It is also bitumen-free, odourless and environmentally friendly.
TECSOUND SY adds a self-adhesive layer. Peel off the release liner and apply directly — no separate adhesive needed, greatly reducing installation time. It bonds directly to plasterboard, plywood, metal sheet and other surfaces.
VELAPHONE (TEXFON) reduces floor impact noise (footsteps, dropped objects, etc.). Laid over a concrete slab with a floating screed poured on top, it effectively blocks impact noise from transmitting to the floor below, providing ΔLw 22 dB of impact-noise reduction.
Clean off dust, oil and debris from the bonding surface and keep it dry. A wet surface or condensation reduces adhesion. For concrete, install only after full curing (minimum 28 days).
TECSOUND BAND blocks the acoustic bridge between the floating screed and the wall. If the floating floor contacts the wall directly, impact noise transmits through the wall structure and sharply reduces performance. Always install TECSOUND BAND around the perimeter before pouring the screed.
All TECSOUND joints must be sealed with the dedicated aluminium tape. Sound leaking through joint gaps significantly degrades overall performance. Overlap joints by at least 5 cm and seal them completely with tape.
The minimum order quantity varies by product. Products are generally available by the roll; for small quantities please contact us. We provide exact quantities and pricing with your quote.
Delivery takes 3–5 business days after order confirmation. Shipping cost depends on order quantity and delivery region and is included in the quote. Direct-to-site delivery is available for large orders.
Yes, we provide free product samples. Select 'Sample request' in the inquiry form or contact us by phone. We recommend confirming suitability for your project after receiving the sample before ordering.
Rw is a single-number rating of airborne sound insulation, measured per ISO 717-1; the higher the better. Rw is normally quoted for an assembled wall/floor system rather than a lining alone — e.g. a double-plasterboard partition with TECSOUND SY reaches about Rw 55 dB.
ΔLw indicates the performance of a floor impact-noise underlay, measured per ISO 717-2; the higher the number, the better. VELAPHONE (TEXFON) is ΔLw 22 dB, reducing impact noise by about 22 dB.
Yes. TECSOUND membranes hold a Euroclass B-s2, d0 reaction-to-fire classification (self-extinguishing), meaning they resist burning, produce little smoke and do not release flaming droplets. It meets the fire requirements of building regulations.
